Time for another daily news.
Captain's Log #
Last night I did another 170 races (if memory serves hmm).
Today I've done 200 races so far. Might do a couple more if I get bored just to play around with...
"Ignore the World" script Part V #
(This saga never ends hehe)
Haven't really done anything new yet. Just added a little key listener to allow me to start the next race without waiting for the result screen.
And no it's not auto refresh!
The main difference is that you have to press enter to start the next race... but wait there's a catch: Nitro Type has to acknowledge that I completed the race. I do this by checking the websocket messages for "completed timestamp" associated with my user id. If I press reload too early, it simply just alerts the user that it's "restarting..." hehe.
While I have 0 experience with auto refresh script, I know it just simple reloads X milliseconds (depending on what you set). I'm not sure what the failure rate is for that, if any... but probably still acceptable.
Racer Spoofing Fails #
One common joke on Nitro Type is people using Nitro Type AI bot names. One of the Ex-FOLLY members did it after leaving the team for a few days hehe.
Last night, I encounter another one of those players. But lol nope jk, I can see if you are a player! Nice try hehe.
Although to be fair, that racer has been using my same car with yellow paint if memory serves. Perhaps I need to decorate my "chatroom" with Nitro Type cars hehe.
Q: Can you share the script? Part IV #
I had a follow up email from member interested in that script. Wasn't sure which version they were after... the one where it just hides the race track after the countdown or my "Safe Space" version hmm...
Safe Space version is still WIP even though it works good enough hehe.
Rant: Cringe Userscript... Part II #
Last time I had a bit of cringe moment with looking at the userscript to display stats below the racetrack. While it did work and looks nice... The JavaScript code was: "not cleaned up for use"... A NT friend told me to basically "shut up" and "write it better than".
And so I did! (or tried to hehe)
It's not worth publishing... it's just nitpicky code review. But here's the main difference:
- I check the React Props for the user's stats instead of
localStorage, because, it's already JSON parsed... so why do it again - Instead of constantly checking for any new stat update, I just check when the race result shows up. It's the most obvious point when stats are updated.
- I didn't go for the
innerHTMLfor updating stats + css... just update the dom elements will suffice. But nothing wrong withinnerHTML, I still use it on Safe Space script hehe
I think the reason why they opt for setInterval to update stats is to handle multi tab/browser racing (like me instead of auto refresh)... Although it only makes sense if it's multiple tabs because it relies on localStorage hmm... And TBH, multiple tabs and Nitro Type don't play nice with login sessions hehe.
But overall, no point whinging about the nitpicks... So thanks for the script idea!
