Captain's Log #

Today's result... 100 sloppy zen races wah... Also dropped an "advert" for the 100-110 WPM league hehe (gg Igor, aka Brazil President references?).

Reviewing and testing collectable paper planes still, more about that on Team Updates section below.

Dropping by Some Live Stream #

Today I had a message from agentgarbo about a very known fast typist doing a livestream doing multi account racing and some conversations among other known players.

It's not exactly the same trick as me where I take turns racing my main and alt. The stream itself was showcasing racing on 4 different accounts at the same time hmm... I've done this before as a joke on someone's friend race using 2 accounts :P. The best speed I got was 40WPM, so I never bothered exploring this "grinding technique".

While the grinding to 4K total was great, I appreciated the "Podcast" part where they talked about various things like botters and interviews with other players. GL with the "treaty" idea, not an easy thing to work out hmm.

My suggestion: just make your own team leaderboard and show it off to protest about it to Nitro Type :/. And yep, I liked that captains only Discord server hehe, it's nice knowing other captains among a quiet server.

Thanks for the minor shoutout ("Loon Typing") over me being on the live chat near the end (although I was already on there, just chat lurking and "working" hehe). Totez not going to do 4 races at the same time, I'll stick with my patent split racing trick for now :P (jk about patent).

What's this? I was making fun about banned labels on Top Teams the other day?... So what hehe. Seriously, while I'm avoiding NT community and sometimes act "evil" and "childish" among my posts (all part of the character shifty eyes)... Let them try being good and getting to knowing people helps me not assume the worst out of people :).

Nitro Type Admins So You Fixing it? Part IV #

You'd think this segment is finished but lol nope jk...

As devs, we like to do bug "regressions"... Today agentgarbo has pointed out the "Update Settings" page always marks "Offline" status as true, if set as that (I'm assuming other ignore settings too!).

I checked the code... I see what they did wrong hehe. I'm also guessing this was from my earlier bug report about Team Invites setting being broken on Team Page. Here's the rundown of what I think happened:

1. I reported to NT support over how Team Invite settings don't update because the API changed and no longer handled "true or false" values
2. They fix the report by manually changing "true and false" to "1 and 0" through a "truthy" check
3. After they updated that, they did not notice that on "Update Settings" page, the select dropbox box uses a "string/text" version of "0" and "1"
4. The fix from 2 doesn't work against string "0" and "1" are not empty text, hence being "truthy"

How to fix? Simply convert the text/string number into an actual number hint hint parseInt.

I've passed that info on to agentgarbo to share if need be. Unfortunately, NT Support thought it was the multi tab session issue, so things needed re-explaining as usual. While it's probably handy to pass that technical info on, they probably will laugh it off as they are only "support" hehe.

But know this, yes it's a bug, I tested too, so please test again Nitro Type support.

Hope they replicate this and fix soon, it's more impactful than my earlier bug report.

PS. Notice how I didn't joke about Paper Planes and Titles this time :P

Team Update #

During my morning it was at a nice last 24hr count around 1.5k mark. Great work today and nice to have that "when you know your top 50" feeling! (hint: applicants hehe)

Next Comp Coming Up May 26th Part IV #

Given what I've got and because of the complexity of "Collectable Game" and craving more collectable ideas, I'll be doing a 2 week event. Both events will have a NT Gold and some big cash prize.

Event A #

This one will be simple, most points wins. I will see if I can incorporate other "simple comps" along this comp too.

I'm still not ready to manage team comps, it sounds like a pain to manage when many don't race wah...

Event B #

Paper Planes vs Dinosaurs!

I've written up the rules, I need to "simulate" this. I've had a graphic designer do at least 30 designs so far, I want to try and aim for another 20 variants (fun fact: spending my IRL cash for this content hehe). I drafted up 10 dinosaurs of my own making (1 from NT hehe) but haven't drawn them up because it's kinda bad hehe. Instead I might grab some "dinosaurs" from good old stock images hehe.

Another collectable item spoiler: ROCKET PAPER PLANE! common rarity hehe... (subject to change)

The reference is from SSH's Rocket Contest and I named myself: "Rocket Paper Plane" hehe.

Quick overview of game idea:

• Every 10 minutes, the amount of races will buy a set of "collectable paper planes" (like opening up a booster pack, only the reasonable grinds will gain a rarity)
• Also you are also engaging in battle against a Dinosaur against a random Paper Plane drawn from your collection
• Both paper plane and dinosaur take damage from their perspective attack
• Dinosaur Defeats tallies up the kill rate of particular kind
• Paper Plane Defeats results in lost of collection, don't lose your rares hehe
• Special Abilities depending on the unit are in play, so if you can't race, you may have a "common" that has an ability to take damage or maybe automatically engage in battle with Dionsaur without race input

In short: just do as many small races within any time of day. Be on look out for "mythic collectable" events.

The reason I separate Event A and B is due to the nature of playing Nitro Type. Event A is more grinding, Event B is more about spreading your races throughout your day. And eh... Imbalance issues? :P
